Papeete Delegation of Teachers and Students, French Polynesia, Visits Changning District

    On March 24, a 21-member delegation of teachers and students from four high schools, Le Lycée-collège La Mennais, Le Lycée Paul Gauguin, Le Collège Tipaerui and Le Collège Anne-Marie Javouhey, in Papeete, the capital city of French Polynesia, arrived in Changning district, where they will spend two weeks on studying Chinese language and experiencing Chinese culture at the High School Affiliated to East China University of Political Science and Law, Xianxia High School and Loushan High School.

    On March 27, Gu Honghui, head of the Changning District Government, attended a welcoming ceremony for the visitors and he wished the students from French Polynesia progress in study and a pleasant stay in Shanghai. He hoped they will see more of Shanghais development and appreciate the extensive and profound Chinese language through activities arranged by their host schools and families and will contribute to the friendship between the people and youth exchange between Changning and Papeete in the future.

    In August, 2014, Changning District and Papeete City signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Friendly Exchange Relationship between Changning District in Shanghai, the Peoples Republic of China, and Papeete City, French Polynesia, which includes the project of exchange between high schools of the two sides. The student exchange, started in 2015, takes place once a year.
