Briefing Given for Foreign Consulates on Shanghai’s Bid for the 46th WorldSkills

    The WorldSkills is the highest-level competition for skilled professionals worldwide, extolled as the “Olympic of world skills”. Presently, Shanghai is actively bidding for the 46thWorldSkills in 2021.

    In order to let foreign consular institutions in Shanghai to know more about the citys bid for the 46thWorldSkills and its vocational education and training, the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau jointly held a briefing on Shanghais bidding for the 46th WorldSkills. Xu Kunlin, vice-mayor of Shanghai, leaders of some departments concerned and nearly 40 consular officials from over 30 foreign consulates including Portugal, Poland, Turkey and Colombia attended the meeting.

    At the meeting, Vice-Mayor Xu Kunlin and other Shanghai officials introduced Shanghais ongoing preparations in bidding for the event and its skills training work and then interacted with foreign consular officials, who were also taken to visit, after the meeting, a high skills talent training base under Shanghai Electric Group, where they viewed such interactive projects as numerical control processing, industrial robot and lean production and experienced firsthand an innovative atmosphere of technological development in manufacturing and lean production management in Shanghai.
