Ying Yong Meets Member of Federal Council and Minister of Finance of Switzerland

On April 15, Ying Yong, mayor of Shanghai, met with Ueli Maurer, member of the Federal Council and minister of finance of Switzerland, and the delegation led by him.

Ying Yong said that, as China’s economic center, Shanghai is currently stepping up the building of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. Itis striving for an internationally high-standard free trade park forfree investment and trade and with open and transparent rules, fair and highly efficient supervision and management and a convenient business environment, for a business environment featuring rule of law, international orientation and convenience, and for a fair, unified and highly efficient market environment. Also, we are boosting coordination between the FTZ and the international financial center being built and promoting financial opening and innovation, with an aim to complete the financial center that will be compatible with China’s economic strength and the international status of the rmb by 2020. Shanghai and Switzerland have many similarities, so we should learn from each other. Under the framework of the innovation strategic partnership between the two countries, we would like to continue to expand our cooperationwith Switzerland and attain new results.

Ueli Maurer said that Switzerland and China are friendly countries, and both Switzerland and Shanghai are financial centers with great potential for development. He called for the two sides to seize opportunities and deepen cooperation and achieve mutual benefit and win for both.
