Ying Yong Meets Governor of Morelos State, Mexico

On March 31, Ying Yong, mayor of Shanghai, met with Graco Lamírez, governor of Morelos State, Mexico, and the delegation he led.

Ying Yong told the Mexican governor that Shanghai’s biggest advantage is opening up. Shanghai is stepping up the building of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and further promoting free and convenient investment and trade, whose aim is to create an internationally high-standard free trade park with open and transparent rules, fair and efficient supervision and a favorable business environment and to shape up a business environment featuring rule of law, international orientation and convenience and a fair, unified and highly efficient market environment. Its development goal calls for turning itself into an international economic, financial, trade and shipping center by 2020, shaping up the core functions of an internationally influential science & technology innovation center by 2030 and building itself into an outstanding global city by 2040. Shanghai welcomes businesses from the United States, Mexico and other countries to invest in the city and together we share development opportunities. Shanghai would also like to increase friendly exchange and practical cooperation with foreign local governments, including Mexico.

Graco Lamírez said Shanghai is China’s economic center and its modernization process receives great attention. He wished to learn from and borrow Shanghai’s experience in opening up, infrastructure construction and financial innovative development,and boost friendly exchange and promote win-win cooperation.
