Ying Yong Meets Prime Minister of Sweden

Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and the delegation he led on June 28.

Ying Yong said Sweden is an important member of the European Union and a bellwether in innovation. In recent years, China and Sweden have seen a frequent exchange of high-level visits, productive economic and trade cooperation and close cultural and people-to-people exchange. Shanghai and Sweden have conducted friendly and pragmatic cooperation in the economic, trade, port, transportation and educational areas and formed a sound exchange and cooperation mechanism. As Chinas economic center, Shanghai is stepping up the building of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and promoting investment and trade liberalization and facilitation. At the same time, Shanghai is striving for a science & technology innovation center with a global reach. All this will create a broad platform and space for Shanghai and Sweden to deepen cooperation. We welcome more Swedish businesses to invest here and Shanghai will offer a better environment and conditions for the Chinese and foreign enterprises in the city. In the meantime, we also encourage Shanghai enterprises to go to Sweden to make investment. He believed the Swedish prime ministers visit will push Shanghai-Sweden exchange and cooperation to a new height.

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven described the development of relations between Sweden and China as sound and said the two sides will extend their cooperation to wider areas. Over 600 Swedish businesses have invested in China, many of which have put their regional headquarters in Shanghai. Sweden would like to boost exchange and sharing of experience in innovation and other aspects with Shanghai and steadily develop cooperation in width and depth.
