Ying Yong Meets Chairman of Walt Disney Company

On June 15, Ying Yong, mayor of Shanghai, met with Robert Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and the delegation led by him.

Ying Yong noted that with the concerted efforts of the Chinese and American teams Disney Resort Shanghai has seen high performance since its official opening in June last year. China has been devoted to pushing forward economic globalization and investment liberalization and facilitation. Shanghai is willing to work with The Walt Disney Company to continue building Disney Resort Shanghai into a model of China-US cooperation. He believed that,as the Yangtze River delta cluster of cities with Shanghai as its center has grown into a world-class onefeaturing developed economy and booming consumption, Disney Resort Shanghai will continue to be a tourist consumption hot spot in the Yangtze River delta and China at large. Shanghai will continue to give support for the development of Disney Resort Shanghai and make its due contribution to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.

Robert Iger called Disney Resort Shanghai one of the most important projects in the history of Disney parks, which has received 11 million visitors in the first year of its operation and which exceeds the company’s expectation. Shanghai is one of the greatest cities in the world, with massive potential for growth, and cooperation between Disney and Shanghai has just started. We will closely cooperate with our Chinese partner to bring Chinese culture into the project and offer our visitors a unique experience.
