Ying Yong Meets President of Czech Republic

On May 17, Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met with Czech President Miloš Zeman and his delegation, and together they witnessed the singing of an agreement on the establishment of sister-city relationship between Shanghai and Prague and memorandums of understanding on cultural and medical & health cooperation.

Mayor Ying Yong said China and Czech have seen a frequent exchange of high-level visits in recent years, whose pragmatic cooperation has been remarkably productive. With the establishment of strategic partnership between the two countries and the signing ofdocuments on Belt and Road development, China-Czech cooperation in various areas is deepening further. Shanghai and Czech, which are mutually complementary in economy, have had fruitful cooperation in the economic, trade, health, cultural, aviation and other areas. As Chinas economic center, Shanghai, in accordance with the requirements of the central government, is striving to build the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone into a bridgehead that serves the Belt and Road development and facilitates the going global of the market entities. Shanghai is willing to play its due role under the framework of China-Czech strategic partnership and the Belt and Road development. He believed that President Miloš Zemans visit and the twinning of Shanghai and Prague will add powerful impetus to the all-round friendly cooperation between Shanghai and Czech.

President Miloš Zeman said he is most pleased to see that the development of Czech-China friendly relationship has had a positive impact on the cooperation and exchange in various areas between the two sides. Shanghai is Chinas economic center and Czech and Shanghai are having increasingly more close ties. He believed that with the forging of sister-city ties of Prague and Shanghai and with the signing of a series of documents between the two sides, the cooperation between Czech and Shanghai will deepen continually.
