Forum sheds light on Yangtze Delta economic drive

A think-tank forum, jointly sponsored by XINHUANET and the Fengxian Government, was held last week at the Nine Trees Shanghai Future Art Center.

The event brought together government, academic and company officials and experts to shed light on the new economic drive for the integration of the Yangtze River Delta Region.

Fengxian District Director Zhuang Mudi was among those who spoke at the forum.

The district is now stepping up to build the free trade zone in Lingang, revitalize its rural areas and boost urban development in the southernmost part of Shanghai, he said.

State Counsellor Qiu Baoxing suggested that the core of the integration lies in the tenacity of the urban-suburban system of the region and people will be the center of the development process.

Other topics like 5G network, smart connected cars and independent design and manufacturing were also discussed.
