Indoor ski resort makes a comeback after 7-year hiatus

After a seven-year closure, the Yinqixing Indoor Skiing Center, once a popular retreat for ski enthusiasts in Shanghai, will reopen this winter.

The renovated facility in Minhang District will feature a 2,700-square-meter skating rink, tracks for snowmobiles, a slope for downhill skiing and a large underground parking lot, in addition to other new facilities.
Yinqixing used to be the largest indoor skiing site in East China with a 380-meter-long slope, allowing 1,000 people to ski at the same time. The site was closed in 2010 for renovation, but work did not start until last year.
