Skies speckled with color of festive kites

    The 20th Shanghai Tourism and Kite Festival kicked off last week in the bay area of Fengxian.

    The event appealed to tourists this year by combining daily leisure with tourism. It set up a kite championship, a souvenir fair and an innovation exhibition.

    Exotic dishes were also available for visitors.

    The kite flying venue was built in 1992 in an area of 200,000 square meters. It is the second largest in China after Weifang in Shangdong, which is reputed to be origin of kite flying.
