Sight-impaired people 'watch' films in Songjiang

A group of visually impaired people walked into the theatre in Songjiang to watch films specially prepared for them on Sunday, which happened to be the 34th White Cane Safety Day.

While the audiences "watch" the film, a volunteer would interpret the pictures playing on the screen.

"The interpretation helps us to form images in the head," said a viewer. "These films are just fascinating."

It was the fifth of the monthly event. So far about 5,000 people have watched 53 of such films, including the latest "Wolf Warriors II" and "Dangal."

The district plans to expand such multimedia facilities into more communities to make the entertainment more accessible for the sight-impaired crowd.
