The world's first smart ship ??i-Dolphin' unveiled in Shanghai

The world's first smart ship i-Dolphin with 38,800 DWT was unveiled on Tuesday in Shanghai. Certified by China Classification Society, it reflected China's leading ability in the world shipbuilding industry.

The ship was invested by China State Shipbuilding Cooperation, designed and built by Shanghai Merchant Ship and Research Institute, System Engineering Research Institute, and CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Ltd.

The smart i-Dolphin was designed and built by smart boat standards, and it also passed the criteria of Lloyd's Register of Shipping. It is installed with a self-learning and maintenance system, enabling the ship to use sensors, the Internet of Things, machine learning, and lightweight communication technologies to connect each system and data-sharing.

The ship spent the first few months collecting data through its sensors, using software and algorithms for analysis, then processed in the special modules. It can calculate the most energy-saving navigation route by analyzing the current and wind.

Also, four other smart ships are being built.
