Jinshan sets up a petrochemical vocational training base with German support

A petrochemical vocational training base was launched in Jinshan on Friday.

The base is operated by Shanghai Office of German Chambers of Commerce Worldwide Network (AHK), in collaboration with Shanghai Petrochemical Academy, with about 200 students from the academy enrolled for the first term of training.

Students here will receive diploma education from the Shanghai Petrochemical Academy as well as vocational training from the base and will be presented with certifications from both institutions upon their graduation.

"Students are trained to obtain the knowledge and skills and most importantly, the comprehensive professional qualities," said Gao Ju, principal of the academy.

A guiding committee has also been established with experts, senior managers and experienced teachers on board for the base construction. They will also provide employment information and guidance.

The base will be included in German governmental projects undertaken by AHK so as to introduce more professionals and educational resources, said Chen Liwei, vice education supervisor from AHK.

It will also serve as a platform for AHK to join hands with more petrochemical schools in China, Chen added.
