    Hospital trials for CIIE emergencies

A “road accident victim” is rushed from a helicopter on the rooftop apron of Ruijin Hospital in Shanghai yesterday during an exercise to test the readiness of the city’s medical emergency services ahead of the China International Import Expo, which runs from November 5 to 10. The exercise, conducted in collaboration with the local police aviation force, was a test of aviation medical rescue “of a person seriously injured in a car accident.” At 12:37pm, the helicopter landed on the hospital’s rooftop apron to carry a waiting medical emergency team to the hospital’s Jiading branch where the “victim” was. The chopper landed in Jiading at 12:59pm. The “victim” was then transferred to the helicopter after being given quick tests. During the flight, medical experts at the hospital worked real time with the traveling experts. The “victim” was brought to Ruijin Hospital at 1:20pm and rushed to the emergency. Chen Erzhen, deputy head of the hospital, said that as one of the designated hospitals to provide medical services to CIIE, Ruijin has had a doctor and a nurse on standby for the aviation medical rescue unit since the end of last month.
