Kunyang cross-river bridge taking shape
The Kunyang cross-river bridge, connecting suburban Minhang and Fengxian districts, is taking shape as the construction speeds up.
The lower beam, completed on December 31, was an important base for subsequent work and to guarantee safety of the bridge as it connects the two banks.
Special programming and 3D modeling was run to optimize the process.
To minimize influence on navigation, Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co Road and Bridge Group, the constructor, has used pre-made parts for assembling, which has greatly cut the amount of work done at the site and shortened by one third the time needed to complete the project.
When completed, the 2-kilometer bridge will be the fifth channel for Fengxian residents to cross the Huangpu River after Fengpu Bridge, Minpu Bridge, No. 2 Minpu Bridge and the Metro Line 5 extension.
