Sci-tech ventures account for 40% of Shanghai's key projects for 2023
Shanghai has a total of 191 key projects scheduled for construction this year, with 40 percent of them related to sci-tech.
An innovative biomedicine project, belonging to the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is estimated to be delivered in 2024. When completed, the project, located in Zhangjiang Sci-tech Park, will become an impetus for innovation in Shanghai to help it become a global sci-tech center for biomedicine.
The cruise assembling project of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co, located on the south banks of the Nangang River in Gaodong Town of the Pudong New Area, is about 11 kilometers west of Wusong Estuary. It aims to develop China's first self-made cruise production line. The project is expected to be put into use by the end of 2023.
The biological antibody industrial base in the Oriental Beauty Valley in suburban Fengxian District will help China achieve proficiency in research and development of innovative biomedicines. The project is expected to be completed within this year.
The second headquarters project of Midea Group, about 2km west of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) in suburban Qingpu District, aims to explore sectors including basic technologies, artificial intelligence, customer research, and smart supply chain. The project will be completed in 2025.
