09-05-2023

The Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway along the Yangtze River, the third high-speed rail link between Shanghai and Nanjing, entered a new phase of full trial operation on Monday.

According to the current progress of the trial operation, it is expected that the new high-speed railway will be ready for opening before the end of September.

The Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway along the Yangtze River starts from Nanjing South Station, connects to the Shanghai railway hub through the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway, with a total length of 279 kilometers and a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The entire line has a total of eight stations: Nanjing South, Jurong, Jintan, Wujin, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang.

After the start of the trial operation of the Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway along the Yangtze River on August 16, one high-speed train ran every day. Starting from September 4, five round-trip trains will be operated daily according to the new schedule.

After actual operation, the railway will adjust its schedule during seasonal changes or increase trains on a temporary basis according to passenger needs.

The railway is a backbone line of the intercity rail transit network in the Yangtze River Delta region. Together with the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and the Shanghai-Nanjing intercity railway, it constitutes a major high-speed rail artery in the Yangtze River Delta region to radiate westward.
