Qingpu tech companies provide emergency support after Gansu earthquake

12-29-2023

At 11:59pm December 18, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Jishishan County of Gansu Province. Qingpu-based Soarscape and CHC Navigation quickly responded, rushing to the disaster area for emergency monitoring and support by building a three-dimensional model of the area.

This has helped both the emergency relief efforts and post-disaster reconstruction.

Soarscape is a technology-based company that focuses on automatic modeling of 3D reality based on software and hardware integration solutions. After learning about the disaster, Soarscape established a 17-person emergency response team, which rushed to the disaster area and worked with relevant departments to carry out emergency mapping.

This team obtained nearly 80 square kilometers of high-definition orthophotos of the earthquake-stricken area in Dahejia Town, Jishishan County, providing first-hand data for the earthquake relief command center to understand the overall situation.

As a high-precision satellite navigation enterprise, CHC Navigation support team used satellite navigation positioning technology in Gansu and Qinghai provinces to carry out emergency monitoring and support with local departments.

"We used drones carrying oblique photography lens cameras and lidar to obtain images of the overall scene of the earthquake-stricken area and assessed the overall situation of the disaster through on-site data reporting. Our other equipment was mainly used for real-time monitoring to prevent secondary disasters," said Wu Jianfeng, general manager of the Gansu Provincial Branch of Shanghai CHC Navigation Technology Co Ltd.
